FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Our pricing structure is determined based on three factors: the type of vehicle you choose, the insurance option you select, and the duration of your rental. To get an accurate estimate of the rental cost, we recommend checking the app and selecting your preferences.

Upon the return of your rental, a second invoice will be generated, charging you for any applicable additional costs. This invoice will also be emailed to you for your records. These additional charges include a contract fee of R25, fuel usage, cleaning fee, and mileage fees.

With regards to fuel usage, our rental vehicles do not need to be refueled before being returned. We will calculate your fuel consumption and charge you accordingly upon the return of the vehicle, which will be based on the current fuel price plus a 10% refuelling fee. Please note that our system digitally monitors and records your fuel consumption. However, if you would prefer to refuel the vehicle yourself before returning it, you are more than welcome to do so.

In addition to the fuel usage charge, a cleaning fee will also be applied. This fee is calculated hourly and is capped at R150 after 24 hours of rental.

We also provide a certain amount of free mileage with each rental. For example, 100km of mileage is included for each day of the rental. If the free mileage is exceeded during your rental, you will be charged R2 per kilometer for any additional distance traveled.

Please note that there may be additional charges such as a collection fee or smoking fee that may be applicable to your rental, depending on the circumstances. These charges will be added to your profile as necessary.
To begin renting a vehicle from us, please download the CliQ Car Rental app from either the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. You can easily find the app by searching "CliQ Car Rental". After downloading the app, you will need to complete a quick sign-up process by tapping the sign-up button and following the prompts.

Please note that in order to make a booking, your profile will need to be verified. To complete the verification process, tap on your name within the app, scroll down to the bottom of the page, and follow the prompts to complete steps 1-4. Once all 4 steps have been completed and have a blue tick next to them, your profile will be successfully verified and you will be able to proceed with booking a rental vehicle.
After verifying your profile, the next step in renting a vehicle from us is to add a payment method to your account. All payments for CliQ rentals are made through the app. To do this, navigate to the "Payments" tab within the app and add your card information. This will enable charges to be made securely through our payment system.

Once your profile has been verified and a payment method has been added, you can proceed to book a vehicle. To do so, simply click on the "Book a Vehicle" button within the app and follow the prompts provided. Our app is designed to make the booking process as quick and easy as possible.
When you arrive at your pick-up location, you can access your active booking by tapping "My Reservations" within the app. From there, you will be able to locate your vehicle by selecting the active booking and tapping the "locate vehicle" button. This will trigger the car to beep and flash its lights, making it easier for you to find your rental vehicle.

To ensure that any damages that occur during your rental are covered, we offer two insurance options. The first option is a standard insurance package that has an excess of R10,000. The second option is an insurance package with a lower excess of R5,000. If damages occur during your rental, you will be held liable for any amount up to the full amount of excess you have chosen.

Please note that our insurance packages do not cover damage to tires, rims, windscreens, or the vehicle's undercarriage. You will be held liable for the full cost of any damage to these parts of the vehicle. Additionally, our insurance does not cover damage caused by reckless or negligent behavior, driving under the influence, or any illegal activities. In these instances, you will be held fully liable for any damages and legal action may be taken.
You will lock and unlock the vehicle using our app. To do this, open the app and tap on "My Reservations". Then select your active booking, and your screen will display a lock/unlock button for the car. Please make sure that your Bluetooth is switched on and connected to the vehicle. Tap the Bluetooth icon on the lock/unlock screen, and when it turns blue, your phone is connected to the car. This will ensure that you can access your vehicle in areas with poor cell phone signal. If you encounter any issues while connecting via Bluetooth, please contact a CliQ Agent for assistance. You can reach us via phone or WhatsApp at 087 291 2800.
To ensure that your rental vehicle starts properly, please follow these steps:

1. Unlock the vehicle via the app, even if the car is already unlocked. The ignition will be disabled three minutes after unlocking if the car is not started, as a safety precaution.

2. Put the gear lever in Park or "P."

3. Place your foot on the brake pedal.

4. Hold down the Start/Stop button for a few seconds until the engine starts.

To extend your rental, simply open the app and tap on "My Reservations". Select the active booking you wish to extend and tap the "Extend" button. You can then select the number of additional days you require and proceed to payment. The cost for the extension will be calculated based on the daily rate for the vehicle and the number of additional days you select.

Please note that extensions are subject to availability and are not guaranteed. If the vehicle has been booked by another customer for the period you wish to extend, the extension request will be declined. In this case, you will need to return the vehicle on the original return date and make a new booking for any additional rental period required.
We have carefully selected our locations to ensure that they are in convenient and accessible areas for our customers. Our pickup and drop-off locations are located near public transportation hubs, major airports, and popular destinations to make it easier for you to get to and from your rental vehicle.

When you book a vehicle through the app, you will be able to see the specific address and directions to the pickup location. Please ensure that you arrive at the pickup location on time as we cannot guarantee the availability of the vehicle beyond the designated pickup time.

If you have any trouble locating the pickup location, please don't hesitate to contact one of our CliQ Agents for assistance. Our team is available to assist you with any questions or concerns you may have before, during, or after your rental.
Please note that if you return the vehicle later than the agreed drop-off time, you will be charged for an additional day of rental. If you need to change your drop-off time, please extend your rental via the app or contact a CliQ Agent to assist you.

Upon returning the vehicle, you will need to ensure that it is parked in a designated CliQ parking bay and locked via the app. Please ensure that all your personal belongings are removed from the vehicle before locking it via the app.

Once the vehicle is returned, a CliQ Agent will inspect the vehicle for any new damages or issues that may have occurred during your rental period. The rental fee will be adjusted accordingly to any damages, traffic fines or other fees incurred during the rental period.
